  1. Council on Clinical Information Technology

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Council on Clinical Information Technology accepts abstracts on pediatric informatics research including projects on the use of information technology (IT) in child health: clinical practice, health services delivery and/or public health (including the use of IT by patients). Preference is given (but are not restricted) to submissions which demonstrate the impact (ie data) of the use of health IT on child health.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts submitted may be considered for either format at the discretion of the Abstract Review Committee.

    • This council will consider original research and/or case reports.

    • Previously submitted abstracts may be accepted, as long as they have not been previously submitted to COCIT or another part of the National Conference & Exhibition. Submission will not preclude future submission for journal publication, nor does prior publication disqualify submission to this section. Complete the fields regarding previous submission even though this will not exclude the paper from consideration. Priority may be given to papers not previously published or presented.

    • All research conducted by abstract authors should have been approved by the Institutional Review Board of the institution(s) where the research was conducted. The abstract selection committee may ask for documentation of approval or exemption by the respective IRBs if warranted.

  2. Council on Foster Care, Adoption and Kinship Care

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Council on Foster Care, Adoption and Kinship Care accepts abstracts related to any aspect of adoption, foster care or kinship care.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations only.

    • This section will consider original research and/or case reports.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Linda Sagor as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • Submission will not preclude future submission for journal publication, nor does prior publication disqualify submission to this section.   3. Council on Injury, Violence and Poison Prevention

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • Abstracts submitted to the Council on Injury, Violence & Poison Prevention should focus on any aspect of unintentional or intentional injury prevention. Two types of abstracts are encouraged:
      1. Research abstracts presenting original research findings
      2. Program abstracts describing ongoing or completed projects focusing on injury prevention. Special consideration will be given to abstracts submitted and presented by physicians in training at any level.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Joseph O'Neil as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts submitted may be considered for either format at the discretion of the Abstract Review Committee.

    • This section will consider original research and case report submissions.

    • All research conducted by abstract authors should have been approved by the Institutional Review Board of the institutions(s) where the research was conducted. The abstract selection committee may ask for documentation of approval by the respective IRBs if warranted.

    • Abstracts may be submitted to another scientific society for presentation, but should not have been published prior to presentation at the AAP. Papers presented at previous AAP meetings should not be re-submitted.

  4. Council on Quality Improvement & Patient Safety

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The newly formed (2013) Council on Quality Improvement and Patient Safety welcomes the submission of abstracts for its inaugural program at the 2014 AAP National Conference & Exhibition.
    • Abstracts should focus on quality improvement and patient safety projects that use formal QI methods and have measurable results that improve care of pediatric patients and families.
    • Pediatricians, both experienced and in-training, in community-based as well as academic practice, generalists and specialists alike are encouraged to submit abstracts related to any aspect of quality improvement and/or patient safety, including those that fall into the following broad categories of implementation, pilot programs, education, collaboration, and evaluation. Sample topics are listed below. Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts submitted may be considered for either format at the discretion of the Abstract Review Committee.
    • Those selected for oral presentation will be eligible for the Best Overall Presentation award.
    • This council will consider original research and/or case report submissions.
    • Abstract submissions are expected to have received Institutional Review Board approval when appropriate.
    • Submission will not preclude future submission for journal publication, nor does prior presentation or acceptance at another medical or scientific meeting disqualify submission to this section. However, prior publication will disqualify submission.
    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify either Greg Randolph and/or Laura Ferguson as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

It may not be possible to include all elements and we welcome abstracts of small and qualitative projects but preference will be given to those presentations which include most of the elements described in the guide.     • Topics may be focused on a wide array of issues, including but not limited to:
        1. Innovative ways of identifying and implementing projects to improve patient safety
        2. Implementation of clinical practice guidelines developed and/or endorsed by AAP or another national specialty society as well as those developed locally which are robust in evidence basis
        3. Innovations in teaching quality improvement techniques via programs in undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education
        4. Interprofessional team development across disciplines in clinical settings, both inpatient and outpatient
        5. Collaboration with local medical societies, AAP state chapters and the Chapter Alliance for Quality Improvement (CAQI) as well as local organized medicine entities.
        6. Utilization of the concepts of meaningful use and patient centered medical home in designing, implementation, evaluation and management of quality improvement projects
        7. Use of the EHR to document and improve compliance with best practices, clinical guidelines, patient safety
  5. Council on School Health

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • Abstracts that address one of the three COSH strategic priorities are strongly encouraged. The COSH strategic priorities are: school attendance, school readiness/early childhood education, and mental health. All abstracts submitted to COSH should be focused on health issues within school. We are unlikely to accept abstracts that do not have a direct relationship to school health.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for a poster symposium ONLY. The poster symposium will consist of 30 minutes for viewing and discussing posters with individual presenters; then each presenter will make a brief oral presentation summarizing his or her most important points and posing questions to the audience. The goal is to promote lively discussion among the group.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Mandy A. Allison as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • Two types of abstracts are accepted: 1) research abstracts presenting original research findings, and 2) program abstracts describing ongoing or completed prevention or intervention projects conducted in partnership with schools. This may include projects that have been implemented but not yet fully evaluated.

    • Research abstracts MUST have the following headings: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. These headings are required by the online abstract submission program.

    • Program abstracts MUST have the following headings: Program Goals, Evaluation (preliminary results are acceptable), and Discussion. These headings are required by the online abstract submission program.

    • Abstract submissions are expected to have received Institutional Review Board approval when appropriate.

    • Submission will not preclude submission for journal publication, nor does prior publication disqualify submission. However, abstracts previously presented at the AAP National Conference and Exhibition will not be accepted.

  6. Council on Sports Medicine & Fitness

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • Abstracts submitted to the Council on Sports Medicine & Fitness should be focused on pediatric and young adult sports medicine and fitness topics relevant to the clinician.
    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations as well as poster presentations. This council will consider original research and/or clinical case reports.
    • Submissions by members and non-members of the Council on Sports Medicine & Fitness are welcome; participation is open to health professionals in any field. However, any papers whose authors are not members of the Council on Sports Medicine & Fitness require a sponsor who is a member. It is the responsibility of the individual submitting the abstract to find a sponsor. Sponsors must ensure that nonmembers adhere to all guidelines. Authors submitting to the Council on Sports Medicine & Fitness in need of a sponsor may contact Rebecca Demorest. Young Faculty, pediatric fellows, residents and medical students are encouraged to submit.
    • The Oded Bar-Or Award is a cash prize of $500 awarded to the best research or clinical case podium presentation. The recipient may be a Pediatric Resident or Fellow at any accredited program, a Fellow of the AAP who is a member of the COSMF, or an Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist with a FAAP sponsor from the COSMF. Individuals are eligible for the Oded Bar-Or Award only once.

  7. Innovations in Obesity Prevention, Assessment, and Treatment Forum

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • Abstracts submitted to the Innovations in Obesity Prevention, Assessment, and Treatment Forum should focus on innovative systematic approaches to prevent, assess, and treat pediatric obesity at the point of care that demonstrate promising or proven results. Special consideration will be given to those abstracts that reflect AAP Chapter programs and/or Chapter involvement. Areas of emphasis include: improving quality of obesity care, increasing physician knowledge, enhancing multidisciplinary care, improving access to care, new technologies, and patient and family communication and engagement.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Corrie Pierce as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for oral presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts submitted may be considered for either format at the discretion of the Abstract Review Committee.

    • Both original research and case reports will be considered by this program.

    • Abstracts may be either new or previously presented.

  8. Pediatrics for the 21st Century: 1,2,3 Go! Sports in the World of Pediatrics- Playing it safe and making it fun!

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:30 AM EST

    • Abstracts submitted to “Pediatrics for the 21st Century: 1, 2, 3, Go! Sports in the World of Pediatrics - Playing it safe and making it fun!” should be focused on pediatric and young adult sports medicine and fitness topics relevant to the clinician.
    • Abstracts will be accepted as poster presentations. Original research and/or clinical case reports will be considered.
    • Abstracts may be co-submitted and co-accepted for Pediatrics for the 21st Century program, the Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness H program, and the Section on Orthopaedics H Program.
    • Submissions are open to all members of the AAP. Young faculty, pediatric fellows, residents and medical students are encouraged to submit.
    • Submission will not preclude future submission for journal publication, nor does prior publication nor prior presentation or acceptance at another medical or scientific meeting disqualify submission to this section.   9. Provisional Section on Tobacco Control

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • Abstracts submitted should focus on any aspect of tobacco and child health, including but not limited to effects of maternal smoking during pregnancy, secondhand smoke exposure and child health, teenage initiation and smoking, media and smoking, emerging tobacco products, intervening with parental smokers during the pediatric office visit, tobacco dependency treatment, and tobacco control policy.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for poster presentations only. The top 3-5 posters chosen by the Abstract Review Committee may be given the opportunity to discuss their abstracts in a brief oral presentation.

    • Two types of abstracts are encouraged: 1) program abstracts describing ongoing or completed projects focusing any aspect of tobacco control and 2) research abstracts presenting original research findings. Special consideration will be given to abstracts submitted and presented by physicians in training at any level.

    • Submission will not preclude future submission for journal publication, nor does prior publication nor prior presentation or acceptance at another medical or scientific meeting disqualify submission to this section. Complete the fields regarding previous submission even though this will not exclude the paper from consideration. Priority may be given to papers not previously published or presented.

    • Note that authors who attend the NCE must register and pay for the meeting (as well as any additional travel and housing expenses). The Section does not have funds to cover these costs for authors of abstracts.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Judith Groner as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

  10. Section on Advances in Therapeutics and Technology

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • SOATT accepts abstracts on advances in therapeutics and technology that promote children's health. Research abstracts may cover such diverse topics as clinical trials of vaccines/drugs/devices, vaccine/drug/device safety, public policy and law related to drug and device development, practicalities of device/technology utilization in pediatric office settings, use of electronic devices for information sharing with patients and families, etc.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for poster presentations ONLY. The top 3 posters may be permitted to have a short oral presentation. Employees of commercial interests will not be permitted to present orally.

    • Both original research and case reports will be considered for presentation.

    • Abstracts may be either new or previously presented.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Charles Schubert or Paul Wang as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

  11. Section on Breastfeeding

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Section on Breastfeeding accepts abstracts related to any aspect of breastfeeding.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts submitted may be considered for either format at the discretion of the Abstract Review Committee. Poster presenters may be given the opportunity to discuss their abstracts in a brief oral presentation.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Natasha Sriraman as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • This section will consider abstracts in the following areas: original research, case reports, educational programs, and breastfeeding advocacy projects.

    • All research conducted by abstract authors should have been approved by the Institutional Review Board of the institutions(s) where the research was conducted. The abstract selection committee may ask for documentation of approval by the respective IRBs if warranted.

    • Submission will not preclude future submission for journal publication, nor does prior publication disqualify submission to this section. Complete the fields regarding previous submission even though this will not exclude the paper from consideration. Priority may be given to papers not previously published or presented.

  12. Section on Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Section on Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery accepts abstracts related to any aspect of cardiology or cardiac surgery, including pediatric and adult congenital heart disease, pediatric cardiology, and pediatric cardiac surgery.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Vivian Thorne as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts submitted may be considered for either format at the discretion of the Abstract Review Committee.

    • This section will consider original research only.

    • Abstracts must describe original, previously unpublished and unpresented work.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts must RSVP by July 31, 2014. Presenters who do not register by that date may be excluded from the Congenital Heart Disease Journal publication.

    • Abstracts will be published in Congenital Heart Disease Journal – September/October 2014.

    • Authors will be notified of acceptance to the Young Investigator Award competition in June 2014. A completed manuscript of the Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Young Investigator presentation must be submitted to Vivian Thorne, AAP Manager, by Friday, September 26, 2014. Manuscripts are required for review purposes but if the author chooses, they may be published in the Congenital Heart Disease Journal (Blackwell) using an expedited review process.

  13. Section on Critical Care

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Section on Critical Care accepts abstracts that focus on topics impacting the clinical care of critically ill and injured infants, children and adolescents, as well as other clinical and laboratory research of interest to the pediatric intensivist. Abstract submissions focusing on patient safety, education, health policy, and quality outcomes are highly encouraged
    • Two awards (best abstract and best physician in training abstract) will be awarded as well as one physician in training travel grant.
    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts submitted may be considered for either format at the discretion of the Abstract Review Committee.
    • Poster presentations should remain up for the entire day.
    • Research should have appropriate institutional review board and/or institutional critical care and use committee review/approval. The abstract selection committee may ask for documentation of approval or exemption by the respective boards if warranted.
    • Abstracts may be submitted to another scientific society for presentation, but should not have been published prior to presentation at the AAP. Papers presented at previous AAP meetings should not be re-submitted.
    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Brad Poss as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

  14. Section on Emergency Medicine

    • The Section on Emergency Medicine accepts abstracts related to any aspect of pediatric emergency medicine.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts submitted may be considered for either format at the discretion of the Abstract Review Committee.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Javier A Gonzalez del Rey as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • This section will consider original research only.

    • Submissions by members and non-members of the Section on Emergency Medicine are welcome; participation is open to health professionals in any field. However, any papers whose authors are not members of the Section on Emergency Medicine require a sponsor who is a member. It is the responsibility of the individual submitting the abstract to find a sponsor. Sponsors must ensure that nonmembers adhere to all guidelines.   15. Section on Hospice and Palliative Medicine

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Section on Hospice and Palliative Medicine (SOHPM) seeks abstracts focused on the experiences and care of fetuses, infants, children, adolescents and young adults with life-threatening or life-shortening conditions and their families.

    • The SOHPM is particularly keen to promote the career development of medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty, and will factor into the acceptance decision making process this commitment.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Margarita Bidegain as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • The SOHPM also is committed to the core value of interdisciplinary care, and welcomes submissions of abstracts from nursing, social work, child life, psychology, pastoral care, and other disciplines.

    • Two types of abstracts will be considered for acceptance: 1) reports of original research; and 2) reports describing innovative programs.

    • Submission of abstracts to scientific meetings (such as this poster symposium at the NCE) does not preclude concurrent submission of the abstract and related report of the study or program description to a journal for publication. Work that has been published prior to the due date for submission of this call for abstracts should not be submitted and will not be considered.

    • Submission by members and non-members of the SOHPM are welcome; participation is open to health professionals in any field. Abstracts authored by individuals who are not members of the SOHPM, however, do require a sponsor who is a member; it is the responsibility of the individual submitting the abstract to identify and collaborate with a sponsor, who in turn is responsible to assure adherence to all guidelines. Authors who are in search of a sponsor may contact Margarita Bidegain or Jennifer Linebarger for advice.

    • All abstracts that involve human subjects research must have received local Institutional Review Board approval prior to conducting the research, and must state so in the abstract.

    • Accepted abstracts will be presented at the 2014 National Conference Exhibition (NCE) in the format of poster presentation in which each accepted abstract will be prepared and displayed as a poster (one of the authors will be required to mount the poster). The top 5 scoring abstracts will be asked to deliver a brief oral presentation summarizing the abstract and highlighting the key issues addressed by the abstract

    • Note that people who attend the NCE must register and pay for the meeting (as well as any additional travel and housing expenses). The SOHPM does not have funds to cover these costs for authors of abstracts.

  16. Section on Hospital Medicine

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Section on Hospital Medicine accepts original research pertinent to the care of hospitalized children, the administration of the inpatient service, or the education of care providers on the inpatient service.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Daniel A Rauch as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for poster presentations only. Also, the abstract must be original research, not a case report.

    • Abstracts may be published in Hospital Pediatrics – Winter 2014.

    • All research conducted by abstract authors should have been approved by the Institutional Review Board of the institution(s) where the research was conducted , unless the research was exempt or a report of a PI/QI project. The abstract selection committee may ask for documentation of approval or exemption by the respective IRBs if warranted.

    • Abstracts may be submitted to another scientific society for presentation, but should not have been published prior to presentation at the AAP. Papers presented at previous AAP meetings should not be re-submitted.

  17. Section on International Child Health

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Section on International Child Health accepts abstracts related to any aspect of international/global child health. Abstracts in the categories of original research and program evaluation will be considered.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts submitted may be considered for either format at the discretion of the Abstract Review Committee.

    • Abstract submissions are expected to have received Institutional Review Board approval when appropriate.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Parmi Suchdev as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • The Section encourages submissions from international health professionals. Accepted presenters will be required to obtain travel letters or visas per U.S. immigration guidelines.

    • Abstracts may have been presented at a local, state, or regional meeting; however, the abstract may not have been previously published or cannot have been presented or submitted to other national meetings or journals at the time of their submission to the AAP National Conference & Exhibition. Papers presented at previous AAP meetings should not be re-submitted.

  18. Section on Medical Students, Residents & Fellowship Trainees

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Section on Medical Students, Residents, and Fellowship Trainees will accept interesting case reports by residents, fellows-in-training, or medical students.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for poster presentations only. Also, the abstract must be a case report.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Anita Shah as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.


    • Submissions by members and non-members of the Section on Medical Students, Residents, and Fellowship Trainees are welcome; participation is open to health professionals in any field. However, any papers whose authors are not members of the Section on Medical Students, Residents, and Fellowship Trainees require a sponsor who is a member.     • Abstracts will be accepted for poster presentations only. Also, the abstract must be a case report.

  20. Section on Oral Health

    • Abstracts submitted to the Section on Oral Health should focus on any aspect of improving children's oral health. Two types of abstracts are encouraged:
      1. Research abstracts presenting original research findings
      2. Program abstracts describing ongoing or completed projects focusing on improving children's oral health.

    • NOTE: Special consideration will be given to abstracts submitted and presented by physicians in training at any level and those that highlight programs with medical/dental collaboration.

  21. Section on Orthopaedics

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The program is the annual academic and scientific educational activity of the AAP Section on Orthopaedics. All attendees of the NCE are invited to attend. The objective of the program is to provide education in musculoskeletal medicine for Section members and pediatricians. Abstracts that focus on the musculoskeletal system including sports, congenital, spine, neuromuscular disorders, and trauma are welcome.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations only. This section will consider original research and/or case reports.

    • Residents, fellows and students are especially encouraged to present the results of their scientific projects, with awards earned for best presentations.

    • Award eligibility: Presenters who were in training at the time of research or submission are eligible. Presenters who were in the fellowship or last year of residency when the paper was submitted but are attendings by the date of the presentation are eligible. An attending or faculty level co-author of the paper must be present for the presentation and discussion of the paper for award eligibility.

    • Submission is not limited to Section members.

    • Presentations will be 4 minutes in length followed by 3 minutes for discussion.

    • Abstract may be published in the print or electronic version of the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Norman Otsuka as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • Abstracts previously presented to other society meetings may be accepted to the Section on Orthopaedics, as long as they have not yet been published.

  23. Section on Perinatal Pediatrics

    • The Section on Perinatal Pediatrics accepts abstracts related to neonatal and perinatal medicine.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts submitted may be considered for either format at the discretion of the Abstract Review Committee.

    • This section will consider original research and/or case reports.

    • Animal studies should have IACUC approval; human studies should have IRB approval. A field is provided in the abstract submission process to submit these approval numbers, if applicable.

    • In addition to unpublished work, abstracts may be accepted if presented at another meeting and published as an abstract, but not published as a manuscript.

  24. Section on Senior Members/Pediatric History Center

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Senior Section in conjunction with the Pediatric History Center is accepting abstracts that reflect any historical aspect of the field of pediatrics. It may be a historical aspect of health or disease, medical management, disease history, history of a pediatric institution, history of AAP entities such as a section, biographical materials or other. Selected abstracts will be invited to show a poster at the 2014 NCE and the top abstracts will be invited to make a short podium presentation during the Senior Section educational program.
    • Only Case Reports will be considered.
  25. Section on Surgery

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Section on Surgery accepts abstracts related to any aspect of pediatric surgery.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Christopher Weldon as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for 4 minute oral presentations as well as poster presentations. Selected posters will be chosen for brief oral presentations.

    • This section will consider original research or clinical reports. Submission of case reports is strongly discouraged, except in exceptional circumstances.

    • Abstracts must describe original, previously unpublished and unpresented work. Authors who are found to have simultaneously published their manuscript in another journal will be prohibited from submitting abstracts to the Section on Surgery for a period of three years.

    • Submitted abstracts must include a senior author who is a member of the Section on Surgery. It is required that the senior author submits abstracts for the Section on Surgery.

    • If your abstract describes animal experimentation or involves the use of human subjects, you will be required to include IACUC or IRB approval numbers as part of your submission process.

    • Once an abstract is accepted, you are expected to present it at the meeting. Authors who withdraw an accepted abstract from presentation from the final program will be prohibited from submitting abstracts to the Section on Surgery for a period of three (3) years.

    • For any accepted abstract, an MOC question will be expected to be submitted before the meeting.

  26. Section on Transport Medicine

    Abstract Submission Deadline Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:59pm EST

    • The Section on Transport Medicine accepts abstracts related to any aspect of pediatric transport medicine.

    • Presenters of accepted abstracts should notify Caraciolo Fernandes as soon as possible if they must cancel their presentation.

    • Abstracts will be accepted for podium (oral) presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts submitted may be considered for either format at the discretion of the Abstract Review Committee. Poster presenters may be given the opportunity to discuss their abstracts in a brief oral presentation.

    • This section will consider original research, quality improvement initiatives and/or case reports. Priority will be given to submissions that feature new findings that may lead to changes in practice and improvements in patient care.

    • Submission will not preclude future submission for journal publication, nor does prior publication disqualify submission to this section. Complete the fields regarding previous submission even though this will not exclude the paper from consideration. Priority may be given to papers not previously published or presented.
